Poem 81

i’ve walked the circumference of the earth,
half awake and half asleep,
unaware of the things which surround me,
the people who have held my hand,
who have stood by me through the good
and especially those who have withstood
the turning of the wheel of life.
they have seen the chaos that plague my mind
and the evil that surrounds my heart.

i’ve hidden truth and told only lies;
i tell myself it’s to protect them from me.

i am a monster
tucked beneath the smirks,
the subtle flick of the finger,
and behind the wandering eyes,
waiting to be awaken from my daze.
